CATEGORIES

There are five membership categories at PRTA: Voting Member, Junior Chapter Member, Telecommunications Infrastructure Member, Vendor Member and Affiliate Member. Telecommunications Infrastructure Member, Vendor Member and Affiliate Member enjoy every membership benefit, but they don’t have a right to vote, nor to occupy elective positions in the Alliance. No entity or subsidiary of the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, its municipalities, or the U.S. government can become a PRTA member.

Membership participation must comply with the Alliance’s Articles of Incorporation and Bylaws, as well as with the rules and regulations adopted by the Board of Directors.

VOTING MEMBER

This category is reserved for operating companies. To qualify as Voting Member, it must:

  • Be registered as a certified business before the Puerto Rico Telecommunications Bureau (NET, by its Spanish acronym), CMRS, ETC, cable TV or interconnected VoIP, or possess an FCC-spectrum license, or be a tenant of an FCC-approved spectrum, or a better bidder for a license at the closing of any FCC-spectrum auction, which provides or plans to provide a bidirectional wireless service or owns participation in a submarine cable.
  • Have presence in the Puerto Rico market and is authorized to do business in Puerto Rico.
JUNIOR CHAPTER MEMBER

This category is reserved for operating companies. To qualify as Junior Member, it must:

  • Be registered as a certified business before the Puerto Rico Telecommunications Bureau (NET, by its Spanish acronym), CMRS, ETC, cable TV or interconnected VoIP, or possess an FCC-spectrum license, or be a tenant of an FCC-approved spectrum, or a better bidder for a license at the closing of any FCC-spectrum auction, which provides or plans to provide a bidirectional wireless service or owns participation in a submarine cable.
  • Have presence in the Puerto Rico market and is authorized to do business in Puerto Rico.
  • Have an annual income below $1,000,000.00.

The Junior Chapter is entitled to a chapter representative vote, which will be exercised by a member elected by chapter participants.

TELECOMMUNICATIONS INFRASTRUCTURE MEMBER

This category includes companies in the various sectors of telecommunications infrastructure construction (cell towers, rooftops, underground and aerial fiber), service and maintenance.

  • Have presence in the Puerto Rico market and is authorized to do business in Puerto Rico.
VENDOR MEMBER 

This category includes companies that provide goods or services to the telecommunications industry, including device manufacturers, equipment companies, application developers and other suppliers and does not qualify in another category.

  • Have presence in the Puerto Rico market and is authorized to do business in Puerto Rico.
AFFILIATE MEMBER

This category is comprised of consultants, institutions, law firms, engineers or others in the telecommunications sector, or any other entity interested in being part of the Alliance and does not qualify in another category.

  • Have presence in the Puerto Rico market and is authorized to do business in Puerto Rico.
